Volunteer - South Eastern Section
Volunteer in the Sydney marketing office
The Royal Flying Doctor Service counts on volunteers to minimise our administration costs and ensure that more of the fundraising dollar goes directly towards our primary mission of providing medical care to those who need it the most. From setting up at Open Days to staffing the stall at the Royal Easter Show to hand packing the mail, our volunteers help us keep costs down and productivity up.
If you would like to join our regular team of volunteers in the Sydney marketing office we would love to hear from you.
The marketing office would also like to hear from any professionals with experience in fundraising, marketing, public relations, design, advertising or other related areas who would like to provide their services pro bono to the Flying Doctor,
Contact the Sydney marketing office on 02 9941 8888 or 1300 669 569 to talk with our Volunteer Coordinator, or send an email.
Become a volunteer speaker
We are lucky enough to have a group of dedicated volunteer speakers who actively talk to community groups about the work of the Flying Doctors. If you would like to join our Speaker Program as a volunteer, we would love to have you on board. Most of our speakers live in the Sydney metropolitan area; however we are always looking for more speakers in other parts of NSW to join the program.
Contact the Sydney marketing office on the numbers above to arrange an interview with our Volunteer Coordinator.
Join a local Auxiliary or Support Group
Broken Hill Women's Auxiliary
The Broken Hill Women’s Auxiliary has been fundraising and providing support for the Service since the earliest days of the Broken Hill Base.
In 2009-10 it supported the RFDS with two fundraisers: the sale of Christmas puddings in December 2009 and the annual dinner dance in May 2010. Dubbed Operation Pudding, the ladies of the Auxiliary made and sold 2,016 Christmas puddings in this financial year, raising over $30,000 for the RFDS and bringing their annual fundraising total to over $68,000. Our thanks go to the Women’s Auxiliary members for their dedication and support.
To join the Broken Hill Auxiliary or for more information about their work please contact the South Eastern Section office on 02 9941 8888.
Dubbo Support Group
The Dubbo Support Group has a very active presence in the Dubbo community, attending a variety of local events to increase awareness and raise funds for the Service including the RFDS Dubbo Base Open Day in May.
In 2009-10 the Dubbo Support Group raised a total of $350,000 for RFDS the Dubbo Base redevelopment. This brings the total contribution of the Support Group to the redevelopment of the Base to $755,000, or half of the capital required by the RFDS to complete this work. We extend our sincere thanks to the Support Group on raising this extraordinary amount of money for the works.
Fundraisers held by the Group during the year included the fourth annual hot climate wine show, raffles and the Base Open Day.
The Lightning Ridge sub-branch, established in 2004, and the White Cliffs Women's Auxiliary are also active fundraisers for the Service.
To join the Broken Hill, Lightning Ridge or White Cliffs Auxiliaries or for more information about their work please contact the South Eastern Section office on 02 9941 8888.
