Registration
On the day all competitors must present themselves to the Registration Desk located inside the Chill Out room (inside the Goldfields Oasis Aquatic Centre) between the hours of 8:00am and 9:30am.
Captains must ensure they submit all of their/their teams Official Sponsorship Forms upon registering, along with any additional sponsorship monies.
Each competitor will be assigned a wristband, for entry in-and-out of the Goldfields Oasis, and a registration number which will be marked upon your upper arm.
Pre-Race announcements
All competitors are expected to be registered and present at the main pool deck at 9:45am for the Pre-Race Announcements where we will go over the event rules, general housekeeping and safety.
Captains
Each relay team must appoint a Team Captain before submitting their official entry forms. Individual competitors will act as their own Captain.
Captains have the responsibility to:
- Ensure their team members have completed the Official Entry Form and Sponsorship Form and that they are submitted before the deadline.
- Ensure their team’s sponsorship dollars are deposited at the Bankwest branch – Hannan Street, Kalgoorlie or in person at the RFDS Visitor Centre between Monday September 12th and Wednesday October 12th 2011. The amount deposited must be at least the required $500. Additional sponsorships can be submitted on the day of the event.
- Present themselves to the registration desk on the day between 8:00am – 9:30am along with remaining sponsorship dollars.
- Ensure they/their teams are present for the pre and post event briefings.
- Ensure a Lap Counter is appointed prior to the commencement of the event.
- Ensure they/their teams compete in line with the Event Rules at all times e.g: completing laps fully and correctly, ensuring all team members have registered before competing.
- Ensure their area is kept clean, tidy and free of rubbish during and after the event.
Team Rostering
Teams are permitted to ‘roster’ their team members. This means that members of a team may come and go from the Goldfields oasis if need be. However, team members may not be “swapped out”. As an example, an Open Relay team consisting of 10 adults may only register 10 adults on the day. If one of your registered team members leaves the premises and does not return, you may not fill their place on the team with another person. Prior to registration, if one of your team members is unable to compete you may enter and register another person in their place. If this is the case, please approach the registration Desk as soon as possible to discuss with the Event Coordinator.
Lap Counting
Before the commencement of the event at 10:00am each relay team and individual competitor will be provided with lap counter sheets, a clipboard, pen and a copy of the 2011 RFDS Swim Thru Event Rules. Each relay team and individual competitor must pre-arrange their own Lap Counter. It will be the Lap Counter and Captain’s responsibility to ensure laps are completed and recorded correctly.
Note: Teams and Individuals found not to be completing their laps correctly will risk deductions from their totals and possible disqualification.
3,2,1 STOP SWIMMING!
At exactly 8:00pm the horn will signal the end of the challenge. All teams and individual competitors must have their Lap Counter Sheets ready to be collected by our Event Staff. While we are tallying up the numbers please give your area a tidy.
The Awards Ceremony will take place on the Main Pool Deck at 8:30pm; so again, Captains need to ensure their teams are present.
Following the Awards Ceremony you are free to head home and have a well deserved sleep, however if you are able to give us a hand to pack up it would be most appreciated.
