Remote Consultations - South Eastern Section

South Eastern Section staff provide over 4,500 remote consultations to patients and remote area health staff in any given year with a doctor available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to speak to anyone who calls.

The South Eastern Section uses the innovative ‘Where does it hurt?’ body chart (first drawn by Sister Lucy Garlick in Broome in 1951 and still in use today) patients explain their medical condition to the consulting doctor who can then pinpoint the exact location of any pain. With the help of our ‘Where does it hurt?’ body chart, patients in isolated areas are able to explain their medical condition with greater clarity and precision to the consulting doctor. The doctor prescribes any necessary medicine from comprehensive medical chests which are placed in remote outposts, helping to improve access to pharmaceutical supplies and medicines.

Where does it hurt?
