Shelley Le Cong is a full time aeromedical retrieval doctor at the Cairns Base of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Qld Section).
Shelley holds the position of Deputy Senior Medical Officer (Aeromedical) for the Cairns Base. She possesses dual Fellowships with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine. During her postgraduate training she completed her Diploma in Advanced Obstetrics and Joint Consultative Committee Anaesthetics qualification. She has completed her Postgraduate Certificate in Aeromedical Retrieval and working on her Masters in Public Health (Aeromedical).
Shelley maintains her critical care training by working at the Cairns Base Hospital emergency department and recently attaining her Generalist in Emergency Medicine qualification. Her clinical interests are women’s health, rural and remote emergency medicine and aeromedical retrieval.
Her background prior to RFDS work was in private rural general practice on the Murray River in South Australia where she undertook advanced procedural obstetrics and anaesthetics.
