Rand Butcher is an intensive care registered nurse currently employed as a Clinical Nurse Consultant for Intensive Care and Coronary Care at the Tweed Hospital in Northern New South Wales. Rand has approximately 20 years of experience in critical care education. Rand has been involved the introductory and advanced critical care education programs in the hospital and university sectors. In 2010, Rand was a sessional course convener for the Masters of Advanced Practice (Critical Care Nursing) program at Griffith University School of Nursing. Most recently Rand is the course convener for advanced courses in Mechanical Ventilation, Renal Replacement Therapies, Critical Care and Cardiac Nursing in The Northern NSW Local Health Network.
Rand has been on many State committees and working parties. Rand has presented papers at local and national conferences. His main professional interests are in the area of mechanical ventilation, evidence based practice and simulation in health care.
