This month our 'in focus' health topic is Arthritis. This coincides with Arthritis Awareness Week – 21 to 27 March 2010.
Over the past few years there have been significant developments in the treatment and management of arthritis. These days, you don't have to put up with the frustration of daily pain and discomfort. There are now some effective medications available, as well as lifestyle choices you can make to help manage your arthritis.
Here we have provided information on the RFDS role in preventing and treating arthritis in patients who live in rural and remote areas as well as our health promotion programs. The challenges of diagnosing and treating arthritis in rural and remote communities is discussed in the context of our Rural Women's GP program. Arthritis Australia has also contributed information with sections on understanding arthritis, key resources for patients and also health professionals.
