Night Landing with Flares
There are numerous types of flares which can be used for an emergency landing, ranging from 2 litre cans filled with kerosene soaked rags to battery or solar powered flares. In an emergency 2 litre tins with the top removed make a usable flare if they are filled with rags or cotton waste soaked in kerosene. Toilet rolls dipped in diesel are also effective.
Kerosene and diesel flares may be a fire hazard. Please ensure you have cleared the area around the tins before lighting.
