Airstrip Information-Western Operations
Airstrips
The aircraft operated by the RFDS Western Operations have proven to be excellent types for their aeromedical role.
RFDS Western Operations pilots are continually checked for their proficiency in operating our aircraft into all kinds of airfields, both day and night, in good and bad weather. They will not however jeopardise the safety of the aircraft and crew by flying into unknown or poorly maintained airfields.
Therefore, it is important that airstrips are both designed to accommodate our aircraft and also are well maintained on a regular basis, especially after heavy rain periods. Please do not wait for a medical emergency to occur before you maintain your airstrip.
As a guide; information on our website should assist you in identifying what is needed to construct and maintain your airstrip so that the RFDS Western Operations can always attend in an emergency situation.
