John Flynn Place
Cloncurry
Visit the historical town of Cloncurry where the RFDS first commenced operations in 1928.
John Flynn Place commemorates the founding of the Royal Flying Doctor Service - where the innovative use of emerging technologies - aviation, radio and medicine were woven together with great compassion for mankind.
It was the Bi-centennial project of the people of Cloncurry and opened in October 1988 by Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of York.
John Flynn's "Mantle of Safety" over the inland sparked a social revolution in the Australian outback.
Visitors to John Flynn Place will discover the Fred McKay Art Gallery, RFDS Museum, the Alfred Traeger Cultural Centre, Allan Vickers Outdoor Theatre and the Cloncurry Gardens.
