Brisbane Base
Following the Queensland Government’s recommendation that the RFDS become the State’s primary provider of fixed wing aeromedical services, the RFDS Brisbane Base commenced operations out of Queensland Ambulance's Terminal at Brisbane Airport, on 3 July 1995.
His Excellency, Major General PM Arnison, AO, the Governor of Queensland officially opened the new RFDS Aeromedical Terminal located next door to Queensland Ambulance Terminal at Brisbane Airport on 20 November 1998.
The RFDS Brisbane Base is exclusively an emergency aeromedical base providing retrieval and inter-hospital transfers. The new terminal better facilitates the receiving of patients transported to Brisbane by the RFDS, as well as the receiving of patients transported by other aeromedical providers such as Queensland and NSW Ambulance Services.
Clinical coordination is provided by Queensland Health employed doctors and aircraft tasking by RSQ.
