Alice Springs Base

The Alice Springs Base provides 24-hour primary emergency retrievals and interhospital transfers by our team of pilots, flight nurses and engineers. It serves an area of approximately 1.25 million square kilometres from Marla in northern South Australia to Newcastle Waters in the Northern Territory, and beyond the border regions of Western Australia and Queensland.

In Alice Springs, we also operate an award-winning Visitor Centre and Café which in 2008/09 attracted more than 63,000 visitors from all over the world. The Visitor Centre – the most significant RFDS tourist attraction in Australia – makes an important financial contribution to our capital raising program, whilst also helping increase awareness and understanding of the RFDS around the globe.
