National Board of Directors
The Australian Council is governed by the National Board of Directors.
Major General Michael Jeffery, AC, CVO, MC - Chairman
Former Governor-General (August 2003 – September 2008) and Governor of Western Australia (1993 – 2000). Major General Michael Jeffery was appointed as National Chairman in November 2008. He has been actively involved in assisting the RFDS to raise charitable funds for many years.
Mr. Malcolm White
Malcolm White has been a member of the Board of the Tasmanian Section of the Royal Flying Doctor Service since 2005 and a member of the National Board since 2008. Malcolm is a Head of Agency with the Tasmanian Government.
Mrs Joan Treweeke
President of RFDS SE Section. Resident SE Section Network area; Member, Outback Arts Board; Member, National Parks and Wildlife Service Northern Plains Advisory Committee; Member, Community Relations Commission- Central West Regional Advisory Council; Chair, Yawarra Meamei Women’s Group Inc.
Mr Neville Bassett
Mr Neville Bassett runs a corporate consulting business in Perth and was originally nominated as a director for this Board in 1998. Neville also represents Western Operations as a director on the National Board of the Australian Council of the Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia.
Mr David Hills
Commenced on Central Operations Board – 2005
Current Chairman of Pacific Marine Batteries Pty Ltd, Chairman of Rural Solutions SA and Board Member of Ronald McDonald House Charities. Former Chairman of Australian Agricultural Co. Ltd and Managing Director of Elders Australia Ltd.
Ms Jane Harvey
Appointed to RFDS (Vic) Board in 2003; chaired Board 2005 to 2008; currently Deputy Chair.
Current non-executive Director of Medibank Private Limited, IOOF Holdings Limited, the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, Colonial Foundation Trust and on the Advisory Board of the Department of Treasury and Finance (Vic). Former positions include director of the Alfred Hospital and Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
Mr Mark Gray
Mark Gray has been a member of the Queensland Section Board since 2000, and is currently Deputy Chairman and a member of the Finance and Audit Committee. Mark is an Executive Director at BDO, specialising in corporate finance and advisory work. He also has his own consulting business, and is a director on a number of private sector, government and not-for-profit boards. He was previously Office Head for the Macquarie Group in Queensland from 2000-2008 and Deputy Under Treasurer in Queensland Treasury from 1995-2000.
