About

RFDS Team

The RFDS is a national, charitable, health organisation delivering primary healthcare and 24-hour emergency services for those that live in rural and remote Australia.

Long known as one of the largest aeromedical organisations in the world, the RFDS delivers health care where mainstream health services are not available, using the latest in aviation, medical and communications technology and a broad-reaching ground-service fleet.Supported by a vast number of volunteers and supporters, the RFDS provides a lifeline for those that live, work and travel in rural and remote Australia, and has been doing so for over nine decades.

Care

Our people are dedicated and passionate about bringing the highest quality primary healthcare, emergency medical, and retrieval services to people in the bush. We are part of the communities we serve, and care for the individuals and families that make up those communities.

Collaboration

The RFDS is a trusted health care provider and partner across Australia, working with local communities, Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations, state-based health networks, and federal-funded health initiatives. It is by collaborating that we can best support the health needs of remote, rural and regional Australians.

Innovation

Operating across vast distances, harsh landscapes, and in far from ideal conditions, necessitates resilience, resourcefulness, and innovation in technology and programs.

Integrity

The Royal Flying Doctor Service is Australia’s most trusted charity, and we return that trust with scrupulous stewardship over limited public resources. We do what we say we will do.
